Cambridge House strengthens emergency preparedness with intensive training in Basic Life Support and AED use

  • News

Cambridge House trains over 190 staff members in Basic Life Support and AED, enhancing safety and emergency response within its educational community.

At Cambridge House British International School, we remain firmly committed to the safety and wellbeing of our pupils. For this reason, a few months ago, more than 190 members of our staff — including teaching staff, administrative personnel, kitchen staff and services — took part in intensive training in Basic Life Support (BLS) and the use of a Semi-Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), coordinated by the Official College of Nursing of Valencia (COENV).

This initiative was featured in the magazine Enfermería Integral (Edition No. 142 – December 2025), where the school’s commitment to prevention and emergency response was highlighted.

A key training programme for responding to real emergencies

The main aim of this training was to equip all school staff with the skills needed to react quickly and effectively in the event of a cardiorespiratory arrest, a situation in which every minute is crucial.

During the sessions:

  • Staff practised basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques.
  • They learnt how to use a semi-automatic defibrillator correctly.
  • They worked in small groups to ensure hands-on practice.
  • They were guided by specialist emergency nurses with extensive training experience.

Thanks to this practical approach, staff were able to consolidate their knowledge and feel confident about responding should the need ever arise.

A further step towards a safer school community

As highlighted in the magazine, this training helps create an environment that is “much safer for pupils and their families”, strengthening the school’s ability to respond to any emergency situation.

The COENV also emphasised the school’s involvement and the value of acquiring skills that can be applied not only within the school environment but also in everyday situations.

Our thanks to the College of Nursing of Valencia

We would like to express our gratitude to the Official College of Nursing of Valencia for their support, professionalism and the excellent quality of the training delivered. Thanks to this collaboration, we continue to advance in our commitment to providing a safe, well-prepared and responsible environment for our entire educational community.
