A wealth of talent, leadership and dedication to global challenges at the Globeducate 2025 MUN

Cambridge House British International School closed the MUN Globeducate 2025, where 160 students demonstrated leadership and engagement in debates on global challenges.
Last Friday, Cambridge House British International School bid farewell to the Globeducate 2025 Model United Nations with a closing ceremony that highlighted the incredible work and performance of the more than 160 students who, over the course of three days, successfully overcame the challenge of simulating the work of the UN, its secretaries, delegates and committees.
During the event, students aged between 15 and 18 years old put themselves in the shoes of representatives of this international organisation, representing the position of different countries on highly topical issues that are key to world peace, such as military disarmament, international territorial disputes, fossil fuels, the use of technology to improve education, refugee rights or the resolution of current conflicts such as those in Kosovo or between Russia and Ukraine.
This was how Raquel, our Year 13 student, who acted as secretary general and chair of the Security Council committee for the event, explained it. ‘As we all know and have heard for many years, the ability to change the future lies in the hands of today's young people, so we hope that this conference will serve as an opportunity to explore that future through sustainable and inclusive developments, and that this newfound peace will shape all our lives for the better in the times to come.’
An unforgettable experience for all of them, which, in addition to connecting them with people from other countries and cultures, has allowed them to further develop key skills for their personal and professional future, such as public speaking, critical thinking, negotiation and conflict resolution.
‘As an 18-year-old who embarked on this journey in Year 7, I can confidently say that MUN has changed me in ways I never imagined. It has been more than an extracurricular activity: it has been a defining part of my personal and professional growth. Personally, MUN has boosted my confidence, strengthened my voice and pushed me beyond my comfort zone. I still remember my first conference, very nervous about holding up my poster, afraid that my words would carry no weight. But with each debate, each resolution drafted and each challenge faced, I grew, not only as a speaker, but as a thinker, a leader and, most importantly, as a person,’ acknowledged Vega, general secretary of Globeducate's MUN 2025 and a student at Cambridge House British International School.
The Globeducate MUN 2025 ended with a real display of talent, leadership and commitment to current global challenges that confirm the educational excellence of the more than 140 participating students, but, above all, their human quality, palpable in the dedication and passion they put into each of the debate sessions held.
‘Today we find ourselves at a decisive moment in history, one that demands urgent measures, global cooperation and a shared vision for a sustainable world and, as Chair of the Human Rights Council, I firmly believe that international cooperation and equity are the only ways in which we can address solutions to these problems. Sustainable development is not just an ambition, it is a necessity. With growing inequalities, environmental degradation and economic disparities threatening global stability, the United Nations has called for collective action through the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,’ said Lucía, another student from the British school in Rocafort.

Impact on other members of the educational community
During the course of the ceremony, attendees watched a video summary of the event produced entirely by Media Studies students from the host school, who were responsible for the audiovisual coverage of the event throughout the week.
Amaya tells us about her experience as a Media Studies student: ‘The experience has been incredible. At first, I was a bit nervous because I had never had the responsibility of documenting such an important event. However, as I got started, I realised how exciting it was to capture those special moments, when I had to act quickly so as not to miss any important part of the event, but as it progressed I felt more comfortable and confident’.
