Cambridge House BTEC: What it is
- Tips
BTEC programmes are a pathway to academic and professional success based on the British education system. At Cambridge House International School we teach them and we'll tell you what they are all about.
Not all students want to dedicate their lives to university. Or not all of them see themselves prepared to go through the Sixth Form and its qualifications, without any of this calling into question their worth or their ability to tackle everything they want and need to. Fortunately, at Cambridge House British International School, as part of our British curriculum, there are other opportunities, and they are just as valid.
We are talking about the prestigious BTEC courses, which we also offer at our centres, an innovative and internationally recognised educational option. These programmes, designed for students between the ages of 16 and 18, can be the gateway to a world of academic and professional opportunities. As a BTEC School of the Year 2020 Gold Award-winning institution, we guarantee a quality education backed by partnerships with global leaders such as Liverpool Football Club and Pearson.
Let's take a look at what this curriculum is all about.
What are BTECs
BTEC stands for Business and Technology Education Council and represents the most recognised vocational education and training (vocational training) system in the UK. These qualifications are equivalent to three A levels and are designed for students who want a more practical approach to their learning, aligned to specific sectors such as business or sport. By completing a BTEC course, students can progress directly to universities in the UK, Europe and even start careers in specialist industries.
Our BTEC courses focus on a learning model that combines theory, practice and skills development in real-world environments. Rather than relying solely on final exams, students present evidence of their learning throughout the course, building a strong portfolio that reflects their competencies and achievements.
BTEC in Valencia: what we offer at Cambridge House British International School
We currently offer two main courses:
- Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business: This programme prepares students to understand the modern business environment. Through practical study in areas such as finance, human resources, marketing and management, students acquire transferable skills for the workplace and academia. This course is ideal for those who aspire to a career in business management or wish to continue their studies at degree level.
- BTEC Level 3 International Extended Diploma in Sport, Business and Management: Launched in 2023, this programme combines sporting education with key aspects of management and business, thanks to our partnership with Liverpool Football Club and Pearson. Students train in an environment that mirrors the global sports industry, learning practical and theoretical skills that prepare them to work in international sports organisations or progress to a degree.
Both programmes are taught entirely in English, ensuring linguistic and academic preparation for entry into prestigious universities or the job market in highly competitive sectors.
What advantages do BTEC courses offer?
The BTEC course methodology prioritises skills-based learning, which is essential in today's world. Students have the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities on an ongoing basis, which builds their confidence and autonomy. Furthermore, these qualifications are recognised by universities and employers around the world, which opens doors both academically and professionally.
In addition, there are a number of benefits:
- Direct access to international universities: BTEC qualifications allow progression to Level 6 degrees at universities in the UK, Europe and beyond.
- Practical and theoretical learning: They combine academic rigour with practical application, ideal for those seeking professional training.
- Global recognition: They are widely accepted by universities and employers, which reinforces their value.
- Tailored to individual needs: They allow students to progress at their own pace, accumulating achievements throughout the course.
- Preparation for the labour market: Students acquire specific skills in key sectors such as sport and business.
